Spanish Formality
Maybe it's because I don't speak Spanish fluently, but it seems to me that Spanish is less formal than French. Although Spanish has the formal forms Ud. and Uds., my impression is that tu (and vosotros, where applicable) is more commonly used, even when talking to strangers. I find this particularly true in Latin America, somewhat less so in Spain. What do you think?
