New Lessons + Features
Diphthongs + Hiatus
When a Spanish word has two vowels side by side, various pronunciation issues
come into play: syllable division, diphthongs, and hiatus. In terms of syllable
division, Spanish vowels are divided into two categories: strong and weak. To
pronounce Spanish correctly, you need to understand strong and weak vowels and
how they affect pronunciation.

Where to Study Spanish
If I want to stay in a Spanish-speaking country to learn to speak Spanish, which country should I go to?
Spain, where the language originated, or somewhere in Latin America since more people speak Spanish there?
The reason I ask is that I've heard that Spanish as spoken in Spain and Latin America can be quite
different. Are the differences greater than that which exist between, say, American and British English?
